Sounding Natural Note: Ideas for talking about karaoke • Like musical favorites, a mind-map up on the board will help organize some of the subtopics.

The questions below will help you get started. These are some basic ideas, but the choice is up to you! Talk about what you are interested in, and use the English you have learned before. Have fun taking conversations in whatever directions you want! How about you? • The brainstorming section of this activity provides students with some time to think about their current and past musical favorites as well as when, where, and how they listen to music. • As students write, go around and provide assistance as needed. • Model the model dialog with several students before having everyone practice it a few times with different partners. For example, you could talk about who you usually go with, where you usually go, and some of the songs you usually sing. There are other ideas as well. The main thing is that you take this conversation into directions that are interesting to you. If you give longer answers and ask lots of follow-up questions, you can have a great time chatting about this fun form of entertainment. Remember that this Japanese word is pronounced differently in different countries!
